    The new powder coating technology developed by Gema allows the automatic coating of tricky areas. Gema, an international manufacturer of powder coating technologies and equipment, has recently presented the multi-gun axis UA05-x. The new solution developed by the company has been specifically designed for applications where top or underside coating with multiple guns are required. The multi-gun axis UA05-x employs a single positioning axis for the horizontal alignment of up to three automatic guns during the coating of complex components and XXL parts. In combination with the vertical Z-axis, it then unfolds its full strength to solve complex challenges allowing new application solutions such as fixed gun positioning, horizontal oscillation across the work piece and applications where vertical gun positioning or top and/or bottom product tracking are required. UA05 is available in two different versions: UA05-2 with two automatic guns and UA05-3 with the automatic guns. The compact design allows the guns to be arranged in a single row in a grid dimension of only 87 mm, ensuring the automatic coating of tricky areas and offering a flexible approach for top-, underside- and deep contour coating. In addition, the new Gema technology is also expandable with angled nozzles and extensions to further increase the application range. UA05-2 and UA05-3 The solution is available in two versions, UA05-2 with 2 automatic guns and UA05-3 with 3 automatic guns for horizontal reciprocating movement under or above the part. Space-saving, compact design The compact design allows the guns to be arranged in a single row in a grid dimension of only 87 mm.     Alpha Group Installs New Vertical Powder Coating Line in Morocco
    Alpha Group, a Moroccan company specialized in extrusion and powder coating of aluminum profiles, installed a new vertical powder coating line. The line supports the company in expanding its production capacity, ensuring the production of 12,000 tons of high quality coated profiles per year. Supplied by SAT, the powder coating line has a conveyor speed of up to 2.0 m/min and guarantees a production output of about 760 coated profiles/hour. The line includes a cascade-type pre-treatment tunnel (with stainless steel tanks and walls) and a V-shaped powder coating booth with high transfer efficiency. Designed specifically for vertical powder coating of extrusions, this compact booth features automatic guns from Gema installed on a multi-arm vertical reciprocator. The booth consists of two vertical walls that encompass the path of the overhead conveyor. Powder is applied to both sides of the profiles inside the wall area. Each of the walls is comprised of a rotating belt that is continuously cleaned. Thanks to the partnership between SAT and Gema, the line is equipped with a Gema OptiCenter OC08 electrostatic powder application system with 20 automatic OptiGun GA03. OC08 guns with the MagicControl 4.0 (or CM40) control system. The CM40 is an advanced interface for Smart Factory automation, enabling it to control all the system’s components and automation functions. It also ensures intelligent networking for all application components, providing greater efficiency and manageability of the process. The system is outfitted with a gap control system designed to detect the presence of profiles and turn on the guns only when profiles are in front of the guns, thus reducing the amount of powder used. The line also includes new generation curing and drying ovens, which are characterized by the position of the fans at the bottom of the device, simplifying maintenance. Innovations within the new curing oven enable an optimization of energy consumption thanks to the positioning of the fans at the bottom of the oven, the separation of the curing zone from the entrance and exit corridors, and the high efficiency combustion chamber to optimize the use of the thermal energy.

    New GEMA headquarters to be realised
    Gema Switzerland GmbH is the market leader for powder coating systems and equipment. The numerous innovations and continuous market success have led to rapid growth at Gema and have in the meantime pushed the production site in St. Gallen, Switzerland, to its capacity limits. As the future prospects promise increasing order numbers and growing staff numbers, the company already started looking for a new location in the region in 2018. Quality products also "Made in Switzerland" in the future Gema found what it was looking for in Gossau, near the current production site in St.Gallen, Switzerland. The new site has excellent transport links. From spring 2022, a modern production plant will be built here, which will exceed all current energy standards from an ecological point of view. All the energy required will be obtained mainly from the sun and the building will be heated with geothermal energy. This will reduce emissions to a minimum. "Powder coating is one of the most environmentally friendly surface treatments. With our new building, we will also take this aspect into account," says Bruno Egger, Global Operations Manager. A highlight of the new building will be the modern and more spacious test and coating laboratory, which will now have four coating lines. This will enable Gema to carry out coating tests for its customers from all over the world even more efficiently and in a more practical manner. With the investment in the new production site, Gema continues to be committed to Switzerland as a location. Gema is thus consistently pursuing its strategy to continue producing and supplying high-quality and reliable products in the future. An essential factor for the long-lasting success is the motivated workforce, which represents the basis and the driving force of the company. At the new location, Gema will also consciously rely on young talents in addition to experienced and long-standing employees. "These are important for us to bring new perspectives and outside views to our international company. We encourage and support young, committed employees in their professional development. They will become the future leaders who will continue to position Gema successfully in the market," says Group President Claudio Merengo. From winter 2023, the proven and successful powder coating equipment will be manufactured at the new production site.
